50^th Anniversary Celebrations

Commemorative Stamp

The issuing of a commemorative stamp in the denomination of Rs. 3.50 was a highlight of the 50^th anniversary celebrations of the Department of Immigration & Emigration held at the Department on October 2^nd 2000. Here Defence Secretary Mr. Chandrananda de Silva who was the chief guest receives a first day cover bearing the new stamp from Mr. J Kumarasinghe, Director of the Philatelic Bureau after the cancellation ceremony. Secretary, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Media Mr. Saman Ediriweera and Controller of Immigration and Emigration Mr. N Bambaravanage were also present.
