APPLY FOR
· A Passport from the
- Immigration and Emigration Department in Colombo,
Divisional Secretariat in your area if you are in Sri Lanka
- Nearest Sri Lanka Mission if living abroad
· Visas for your destination if prior visas are required
· Without a prior visa you can enter
- Hong Kong - 07 days
- Singapore - 14 days
- Maldives - 30 days

ASK
· For an acknowledgement if you hand over the Passport to a Third Party
[Job/Travel Agent/Embassy etc.]

|
CHECK WHETHER
· The validity period is sufficient for your travel purposes
[06 months + Period of stay overseas]
· There are any restrictive endorsements
· There are sufficient blank pages for Visa Endorsements
· Pages are intact
· There are any unauthorized endorsements
· Embarkation/ disembarkation is stamped properly

COMPLETE
· Information as requested in Pg 13 or 45 or 61
[Important Page] your passport to notify the death or
accident to your next of kin.

DO NOT
· Posses more than one valid Passport / Travel Document concurrently
· Try to send your Passport by Post / Courier or through a known party to or from Sri Lanka, without written
permission from the Controller.

INFORM
· Local / Overseas Police if your Passport is lost / stolen.
Note: You are liable to pay an additional levy when applying in lieu of a lost Passport.

KEEP
· Your Passport in a secured place. Keep photo copies of the Data Pages / Valid Visa Pages separately
· A record of the Passport Number in your diary for future reference.

· Notes on page 14 or 46 or 62 in your passport.
