The Sri Lankan passport has significantly improved in the Henley Passport Index 2023, climbing eight positions from last year to land in the 95th spot in the most recent ranking.
The Henley Passport Index is the original, authoritative ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. It is published annually by Henley & Partners, a global residence and citizenship advisory firm, in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
As of the latest update on this index, Sri Lanka’s ranking has significantly improved, attaining a higher position on the list. The Sri Lanka’s Passport now allows citizens to enjoy increased global mobility, with access to a greater number of countries visa free or with visa on arrival. This improvement in ranking reflects positive developments in International relations and visa agreements, making travel more convenient and accessible for Sri Lankan passport holders. This also highlights the Department effort to enhance its global standing and foster stronger diplomatic ties with other Nations.
