Transit Visa
A Transit Visa is an entry permit granted to a foreign national for admission into Sri Lanka for a short period which is incidental and in the course of his journey to another destination.
There are two sub-categories under transit visas
- Transit Visa – Two Days
A transit visa for two days will permit passengers to transit through Sri Lanka Sea/Airports and to enter the destination country within such period where the visa period cannot be extended as transit further.

- Engage in employment paid or nonpaid employments or self –employment or any kind of business activities.
- Live in Sri Lanka for a long period through frequent or successive visits.
- Required Documents:
Proof of air-ticket/sea passage
- Transit Visa – Four Days
A transit visa for four days will permit passengers arriving in ‘Passenger Vessels’ for the purpose of excursion to transit through Sri Lanka Seaports and to leave for the destination country within such period.
